Program Manager Job Description

Within our Payroll Systems team, your primary responsibilities will be to drive the strategy and development of the project plan, deployment schedules, and stakeholder engagement while looking for opportunities to optimise our existing integrations with both our upstream and downstream partners. To drive all implementation efforts, you will collaborate with our internal payroll team as well as our technical partners, HR, and benefits. The ability to work cross-functionally and proactively identify areas of need is critical to the initiative’s continued growth and success. You will also continue to drive continuous improvement after the launch.

Successful candidates will have experience working with HCM/Payroll systems, have a project management background, have worked on complex large-scale initiatives, be detail-oriented, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You should be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous planning, disciplined attention to detail, and continuous process improvement, in addition to being passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions. You should have prior experience working with subject matter experts from various geographies and using data to advance ideas and influence others. Finally, thinking big and charting a bold course for the future is essential.


  • Drive impact by managing key project management activities and reporting on program metrics; includes performing risk mitigation to reduce delays and escalating as needed.
  • Execute prioritization mechanisms to aid in decision making and provide regular updates to internal and external partners/leadership.
  • Manage project plans while ensuring quality standards.
  • Provide day to day management by updating, maintaining, and creating key programmatic deliverables including but not limited to: project plan, RAID Logs, deployment approach, and capabilities and design documents.
  • Create automated dashboards to summarize and share important metrics, such as project status, key performance indicators (KPIs) with program teams to help drive decisions on resourcing and identify areas that require attention.
  • Drive innovation and break through improvements in your team’s processes and practices.
  • Partner with other Amazon teams impacted by this initiative to align timelines and expectations.
  • Work with operations teams to drive improvements.
  • Provide program management oversight to all Workstreams as defined in the Operating Model


  • 3+ years experience in program or project management
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • 3+ years experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams


  • Project Management accreditation.
  • A strong desire to exceed expectations and strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability of participating in milestone driven projects.
  • Experience with ADP Systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
