Analyst-Product Development Job Description
The Global Decision Sciences (GDS) team creates central, scalable platforms and customer experiences to assist markets across all of these priorities, with a focus on digitization, innovation, and analytics. The charter is to drive scale for the business and accelerate innovation for both immediate impact and long-term business transformation. GDS is distinguished by the integration of diverse skills across all of its responsibilities. GDS has a wide range of responsibilities, which results in a wide range of initiatives around the world. American Express Corporation’s Amex AI Labs is looking for best-in-class Product Managers to work in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Amex AI Labs is currently co-located in Bangalore, Gurgaon, and New York and includes dynamic and talented product managers with research and product development expertise in AI/ML technologies such as Deep Learning, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Cloud Technologies, and related technical areas from top tier institutes in India and abroad.
Beyond developing products and solutions for traditional financial domains like credit and fraud, the team is also working on difficult research problems in areas like services, human resource management, travel and lifestyle, and many more. The primary goal is to advance the state of the art in science and develop products to solve business problems for American Express in a domain-agnostic manner.
Responsibilities
- Lead the ideation and launch of innovative AI/ML products and capabilities
- Define product strategy and roadmap; recommend the nature and scope of present and future state of the ML Platforms.
- Corral and organize experts from business lines, data scientists, and engineers to create shared goals and specs for AI products
- Help the stakeholders to productionize results for AI Products
- Own end-to-end AI/ML product capabilities and drive their developments with a team of world-class engineers and designers.
- Work with complex cross functional teams managing healthy conflicts and drive people towards customer goals and organizations priorities.
- Transform MVPs to production grade capabilities in collaboration with engineering teams
Eligibilities

- Apply AI/ML product experience & expertise horizontally in a domain-agnostic manner to solve complex problems in non-traditional financial domains (human-resource/services/customer-listening etc.)
- Innovate ways to evangelize the product to drive Amex wide user adoption
- Contribute to the strategy and roadmap of AI/ML Initiatives to help drive most impact
- Evaluate prospective features in AI Products and ability to prioritise them with changing requirements in the direction of AI adoptions.
- Ensure both AI governance and product level governance in the enterprise context

- 0-2 years of experience in product management
- Preferred: Experience in managing enterprise-wide AI/ML platforms.
- Undergraduate/Master’s in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Operations Research / Statistics/ Mathematics, MBA from institutes of global repute.
- Ability & Experience in taking a prototype to a product stage
- Different aspects of product development and management
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate creativity and self-sufficiency along with strong interpersonal/ collaborative skills and experience working in global teams
- Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented opinionated engineering, UX and QA teams
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Experience defining and developing a new product or service.
- Familiarity with AI/ML modeling workflows: feature selection and engineering, different ML Model families, optimizations considerations for ML models, deployment and serving challenges
- Strong understanding of AXGBoost and related gradient boosting algorithms
- Familiarity with AI/ML modelling workflows: feature selection and engineering, different ML Model families, optimizations considerations for ML models, deployment and serving challenges
- Excellent understanding of the various AI/ML Model deployment systems and processes with a fair knowledge of various model regulatory and governance policies.
- Experience in designing and building AI products.
- Knowledge of Big Data Platforms such as Spark, Hadoop and Amex specific platforms e.g., Cornerstone.
- Knowledge of Cloud platforms such as AWS and Amex specific platforms e.g., eCP
- Knowledge of Big Data Architecture SQL, Kubeflow is preferred.
